Chase High School
Chase High School is a large secondary school located in Westcliff on Sea. The school recently secured academy status under the sponsorship of Brentwood Academies Trust. The first school was built on our site over a hundred years ago and our latest addition, a superbly equipped Sixth Form, was added as recently as April 2011. Chase High shares its site with the community and has use of several astro turf pitches through PlayFootball as well as the use of sports facilities through Chase Leisure Centre. Parking is available on site and there are good transport links by both rail and bus. The school benefits from being in the Thames corridor with good transport links to London and beyond as well as international links through Southend Airport.
The school is a dynamic and vibrant community with over 1,000 students from 44 different countries. We have over 200 staff, including teaching and support staff. There is a comprehensive CPD and support programme which helps staff to further develop their knowledge, skills and methodology. This helps us to keep abreast of developments in teaching, learning and assessment so that we offer our students a high quality educational experience.
In January 2015, Chase High School was awarded ‘Employer of the Year’ by Southend Adult Community College for its highly successful Apprenticeship Programme. The school provides excellent opportunities for apprentices to progress in the school and supports apprentices in their professional development.
We understand that we still have a way to go in raising achievement, particularly in English and Maths, and that Ofsted endorsed that our teaching staff "are united in a drive to raise the achievement of students and the quality of teaching." Ofsted 2013
In November 2013 our Sixth Form was judged as good by Ofsted. Last summer 89.1% of students achieved or exceeded their target grades. Our students benefit from fully-equipped, state-of-the-art classroom and lab facilities and have access to industry-standard technology. A number of our Sixth Form students go on to study at University.
At Chase High School we value academic performance and personal development in equal measure. Our commitment is to ensure that our students make good progress as well as that they are happy at school. Parents agree this is a safe school and that they feel they can approach staff on any issue. We have a clear focus on the need for excellent teaching, learning and behaviour and, through working closely with all involved, we look forward to seeing successful and happy learners who will be ready to play a full part in our community. A strong feature of the school is the vertical tutoring system arranged in Houses. Visitors to the school remark how well-behaved and polite our students are. They form excellent relationships with their teachers.
